“The company is in discussions with potential Asian buyers about significant volumes of LNG and a key terms agreement may soon be signed,” Woodside said this morning.
“These discussions have included CPC. If any of these negotiations are successful and a key terms agreement is concluded with CPC or any other buyer, Woodside will make the appropriate disclosure to the market.”
Last week The Australian newspaper reported CNOOC chief executive Fu Chengyu said Australia was set to become one of the world's largest gas exporters.
He went on to say that CNOOC, a stakeholder in the North West Shelf project, was keen to invest in more Australian LNG developments and had at least one receiving terminal on the drawing board that had no contracted supply.
