NWSV extends Japanese LNG contract

The oil and gas giant today said under the deal, to begin in April 2009, the NWSV will supply about 530,000 tonnes per year of additional LNG to Tokyo Gas for eight years.

Tokyo Gas, Japan’s largest gas utility company, services a region that has a population of about 44 million people and accounts for about 39% of the country’s GDP.

The NWSV and Tokyo Gas have an existing contract, which started in 2003.

The six equal participants in the NWSV are Woodside Energy (operator); BHP Billiton (North West Shelf); BP Developments Australia; Chevron Australia; Japan Australia LNG (MIMI); and Shell Development (Australia).
