The jetty extension is part of Woodside’s phase 5 LNG expansion project and will be undertaken by an equal partnership between Clough and the Netherlands-based Interbeton, a subsidiary of one of Europe’s largest construction companies Royal BAM Group.
The 15-month contract is due to expire in 2007 and will produce an additional berth for LNG tankers with capacities of up to 145,000 cubic metres.
All construction activities will be performed from the Interbeton-supplied IB909 jack-up barge, which will be transported from Europe to Dampier by late February 2006.
Clough and Interbeton have cooperated on projects for 40 years and were involved in the construction of the original berth and loadout jetty for the NWS venture in the 1980s.
Clough chief executive David Singleton said the company was keen to develop the partnership further.
“Clough believes that the agreed contracting strategy will deliver this project to the benefit of all stakeholders, considering the heated construction market in Australia and globally right now,” Singleton said.
