GAIL has eyes for Australian LNG projects

"India is certainly interested in Australian LNG," Ray said.

"We are looking at current NWS spare capacity, as well as future uncommitted capacities from the NWS, Gorgon/Darwin and Greater Sunrise projects.

"GAIL is also interested in investing in NWS new trains, as well as expansion of the Gorgon and Darwin projects and exploitation of Greater Sunrise fields."

Ray said there were also opportunities for Australian companies in Indian-based joint ventures, including exploration in the country's NELP blocks, exploration and development of coal-bed methane resources, LNG terminals and power stations.
