Speaking to the news agency DSMEC spokesperson An Wook-hyeon said, “Such a vessel of new technology can have a major impact on the LNG shipbuilding market as only seven LNG-RVs are enough to provide South Korea's annual consumption of LNG, amounting to 20 million tons.”

“We will deliver the LNG-RV named Excelsior with a capacity of 138,000 cubic metres to Exmar NV of Belgium on Friday,” added An who revealed the price of each LNG-RV was around US$200 million, US$30 million more expensive than a standard LNG tanker of the same size.
