Currently, Oman has two LNG carriers, the Sohar LNG and Muscat LNG.
Oman’s Minister of National Economy and Deputy Chairman of the Financial Affairs & Energy Resources Council Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki said, “We have signed agreements with Mitsubishi Corp and Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) for constructing a new vessel to be named after Ibri. The new vessel is under construction in Japan at [Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’] shipyard in Nagasaki.”
“Agreements were also signed with Itochu Corp and MOL for building Nizwa LNG, which is under construction in Japan at Kawasaki Shipbuilding Corp’s shipyard in Sakaide; [as well as] agreements with MOL for two LNG vessels, being built by Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea, named after Salalah and Ibra,” he added.
