Iran to issue first tender for LNG facilities

In the first ever move since the fall of the former Shah of Iran, the MD of the National Iranian Gas Exports Company, Roknoddin Javadi, has confirmed that his government would soon be issuing its first ever tender for the construction of LNG installations in Iran.

The tenders are due for issue sometime in November and that his company was having talks with two multinational giants. Javadi has confirmed that discussions are under way with both BP and BP and Royal Dutch/Shell and all parties concerned were making "good progress".

The NIOC LNG tender is for the construction of gas desalination and loading facilities, liquidation equipment and two LNG production lines. These facilities must have a capacity to handle up to 4.8 million tonnes a year.
