A spokesperson from BG Group has confirmed that the company would buying three new 145,000 cubic metre ships that will be delivered in 2006. The group would then have the option for a further four more to be delivered in the following year.

"These new ships will help BG build its position as a leading player in liquid natural gas," explained the spokesperson; who also added that the new vessels would allow the group to accelerate its LNG business in the Atlantic basin region.
