According to Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Purnomo Yusgiantoro, sales and purchase agreements could be signed by the end of the year.

Should the deal happen, it would prove to be the second contract that Indonesia has managed to secure in China. Last year, it managed to get the contract to supply 2.6 million tonnes of LNG to the Fujian province from 2007. The gas for the proposed deal will probably be sourced from the Bontang LNG plant in East Kalimantan.

The head of BP Migas, Rachmat Sudibyo, has confirmed that talks are underway between his agency and the potential buyer in China, Pacific Oil and Gas Ltd. One of the options under discussion is whether or not Pacific should build a new LNG train in Bontang.
