Drilling of Schwing-2 in Iberville Parish is still to reach a total depth of 14,500 feet to test the Upthrown Nodosaria prospect.
Amadeus said gas shows were encountered in the Lower Marg Tex at a depth of about 11,800 feet and in the Bol Mex at about 12,000 feet.
But the company said hole conditions have forced changes to the hole size and casing design for this well.
“The combination of gas shows, and intermittent lost mud circulation, require that casing must be run for mechanical and safety reasons, before the well can be deepened,” the company said.
“It is therefore intended that a log run be made at current measured depth of 12,036 feet, and 9 5/8-inch pipe set immediately above the Bol Mex, at approximately 11,990 feet.”
The well will then be deepened and re-logged, so that full log coverage can be secured across the entire Bol Mex section.
If gas pay is encountered in the Bol Mex Sand, the operator Spartan Operating Company will run 7 5/8-inch casing to protect the Bol Mex section, before the well is deepened to total depth.
Amadeus has a 52% working interest in Schwing, while anotehr Perth junior, First Australian Resources, has 5% between surface and 14,500 feet and 17.7% in deeper prospects.
Meanwhile in Texas, Amadeus says it plans to case its Hermes-1 gas exploration well for production, with first output expected in the next 90-120 days.
Amadeus said the well encountered multiple gas shows in the secondary target Midcox section, while the primary objective Hoffer sand was present in the form of two lobes.
Log data suggested both zones are gas bearing, and of reservoir quality.
“They are the lateral equivalent of the producing zone in the Hoffer-1 well, 2700 feet to the north,” the company said.
“The zones are probably in direct communication with the Hoffer-1, thereby demonstrating good potential areal extent. This will be further evaluated by pressure analysis.”
After 12 months of production, the Hoffer-1 well is still maintaining 5 million cubic feet of gas and 100 barrels of oil per day.
Amadeus holds a 40.75% in this Trio Consulting and Management-operated project, and a 52% stake in the Schwing-2 well.
