The Jean H Freeborn-1 deep gas well, drilled at the Rowena Wilcox prospect in the Shaeffer Ranch project in Jim Wells County reached a total depth of 16,030 feet. The four promising sandstones intervals lie 14,180 feet to 14,760 feet, according to Antares.
“The inter-bedded sands are interpreted to have good to very good reservoir characteristics,” the company said.
“The joint venture plans to run a casing liner and production test the intervals. At this stage the plan is to perforate approximately 75 feet of potentially net sand over the four intervals.”
Antares has a 50% working interest in Jean H Freeborn-1, which is operated by the San Isidro Development Company.
Meanwhile, at the company’s West Wharton project in Wharton County, Texas, the Outlar-1 well is shut-in awaiting pipeline connection.
“The operator [CICO] has selected a pipeline route to a sales line approximately 2.1 miles from Outlar-1,” Antares said.
“The line will pass by the next four drillable prospects and tie-in points will be constructed at each location. The sales line selected will pay a premium for Outlar’s rich gas. Preparations for installing the pipeline continue.
Antares has a 30% working interest in Outlar-1.
Elsewhere in Texas, the Harrison-2 well in Brazoria County’s Oyster Creek project is scheduled to be spudded before the end of the year in order to develop mapped reserves and increase production.
The operator, Slawson Exploration, is in discussion with Orion Drilling to have the well drilled on a turnkey basis, according to Antares, which has a 75% working interest in this well.
