In mid-May, operator Texas Crude Energy and three Austalian juniors - Sun Resources, Victoria Petroleum and Aurora Oil & Gas - started a workover program at the East Flour Bluff field wells, D-13, D-19 and D-24, and on the Smith-1 well in the West Flour Bluff field.
The program was designed to arrest declining production and almost double daily output to above 3 million cubic feet per day, up from the May levels of 1.6MMcfd.
“This objective of increased production is being met by a successful workover program,” the company said.
“These workovers are the result of Sun Resources’ active lobbying of the operator and were considered and approved at a technical meeting in Houston in early February 2007.”
Before the workover, the D-13 well was offline and dormant, but is now producing up to 1.7MMcfd into the gas processing plant for sales.
Likewise, the D-24 well is flowing up to 635,000 cubic feet of gas per day, with 26 barrels of associate condensate, and 8 barrels of water for sales.
In addition, the Smith-1 well is producing 288,000 cubic feet of gas per day, with 3 barrels of associated condensate. The well may be fracture stimulated to boost output once it has been cleaned up and in production.
Meanwhile, Sun Resources also said that the SL 328-9 well at the Lake Long prospect in Louisiana is to start producing into the sales line at a planned rate of about 4 million cubic feet of gas per day with associated condensate.
Sun joined with Australian explorers First Australian Resources and Amadeus Energy, as well as US operator Kriti Exploration, to tackle the Lake Long prospect.
