Nexus earlier this month said the Crux-2 sidetrack well had intersected the “A” and “B” sands as predicted, and also found an unexpected pay zone in a younger formation it described as having excellent reservoir properties.
In a progress report, the company yesterday said all electric wireline logging and gas liquids sampling operations on the Crux-2 sidetrack well have been completed and 9 5/8-inch casing was being run in the hole.
It said pressure data obtained from the well indicate that the entire 158m gas column found on April 4 is part of a single accumulation that has the same pressure characteristics as the gas columns seen in both the Crux-1 and Crux-2 wells.
Nexus said this indicated all three wells have intersected a single accumulation.
“Gas and liquid samples recovered from the Crux-2 sidetrack well are currently being analysed and the results of that analysis will be reported over the coming week,” the company said.
“At the conclusion of the current operations, which involve the running and cementing of casing, the well will be suspended as a future Crux liquids project production/injection well.”
Nexus holds a 100% interest in permit AC/P23. It plans to secure an investment decision for the Crux gas/condensate project in early 2008 with first production expected in 2010.
