The Brisbane-based company yesterday said as a result, it sold more than one petajoule of gas in January, making it the company’s highest monthly sales volume on record.
QGC said the production rate was 75% higher than its June forecast of 21.9TJpd or 8PJ per annum.
“Current production from the original 23 Berwyndale South gas wells is now averaging 1.575 million cubic feet per day per well and approximately triple the gas production volume of the original ‘Banker’s Case’ that underpinned the development of the field,” managing director Richard Cottee said.
“This is equivalent to producing nearly 1 million cubic feet per day above QGC’s break-even economics.”
The Berwyndale South gas field is still increasing production with the delivery and installation of further field compressors.
“It should be noted that over half of the wells are producing without pumping and none of the wells on the gas field are showing any signs of a decline,” Cottee said.
QGC is operator and majority owner (90%) of the Berwyndale South gas field, in joint venture with Sentient Gas Australia (10%).
