The company yesterday said the objective Osborne Sandstone in the well at the Amber gas field in Oklahoma was intersected at 10,510ft and is preparing to run electric logs.
Samson said the zone returned two “good” gas shows, with the upper sand from 10,510-10,538ft returning a gas show of 250 units. The lower zone over the interval 10,548-10,590ft had a gas show of 710 units.
The operator is now likely to recommend casing to produce this zone, which will be confirmed by the logging program, Samson said. If all goes to plan, the well will be cased and fracture stimulated over the next two weeks.
Samson holds 37.5% and 32.5% equity in two parts of the Amber field in the Anadarko Basin, Oklahoma.
Current production from the field, net to Samson, is 800,000 cubic feet per day, which is sold directly into a gas sales system. The well is expected to add about 230,000cfd net production, taking Samson’s total net production from the field once this well is finished, to 1.03 million cubic feet per day.
The field has been on production for decades and is currently undergoing an infill development program.
