Santos CEO keeps mum on PNG gas project

“I will be really happy once the decision has been made and it will save a lot of people time and effort from asking this question. It is a material event for us and once we make that announcement it will be an ASX release,” he told the briefing of media, investors and brokers yesterday that was broadcast over the internet.

“All I can say is that we are in discussions and they are going well. All I can say is that they continue.

“It is going to be interesting because once that announcement has been made then we can start talking about it. It is not a simple decision. There are quite a complex number of issues that are discussed.

“I think everyone thinks that it is a matter of saying, ‘Okay are you in or out? Sign here’. It is never that easy in commercial negotiations.”
