Themed ‘Pipelines – Bridging our Energy Needs’, the convention will highlight the role of pipelines in meeting Australia’s essential energy and material needs, said organiser Australian Pipeline Industry Association Ltd.
“In particular, it will examine the role of pipelines as a safe and efficient energy-delivery system and the anticipated increasing role that pipelines have in delivering natural gas – a bridge to a more sustainable long-term energy future,” the association said.
The convention’s business program will provide an overview and status report on four major Australian pipeline projects, including the TTP, PNG Gas Project, DBNGP expansion and the Casino Pipeline Development.
Other business session highlights include:
· A look at pipelining in Australia from an engineer’s perspective and the need to educate, manage and encourage young engineers.
· Observations from two state regulators on pipeline safety in the 21st century and the need for a collaborative approach with regard to field gathering lines.
· A session on bridging energy needs from an international perspective.
· A variety of operational and technical papers providing industry representatives with an overview of new technology.
