The logs have indicated 173 feet of gross hydrocarbons - gas and oil - over several intervals in the secondary objectives, Tomahawk said.
The two primary objectives, the Caney Shale and the Woodford Shale, intersected gross thicknesses of 154 feet and 42 feet respectively with excellent gas shows of up to 1,300 units.
Snell Heirs 4-18 is the ninth well to be drilled by Tomahawk on this Oklahoma project.
"This is one of the most promising to be drilled to date in terms of both the number of secondary formations encountered and the magnitude of gas kicks in the primary objectives," the company said.
"A testing program is currently being devised which will test up to 10 of the hydrocarbon-bearing secondary formations as well as both the Caney and Woodford Shales."
This well is the first of a scheduled program of about 20 wells in the next 12 months. It follows the very successful program in 2004 where the eight wells drilled were all discoveries.
In addition to these eight wells drilled the company purchased a 50% working interest in another two wells. Of the 10 wells, five are producing at present and the other five are at various stages of being brought into production.
