Lakes Oil told the ASX this morning that Echidna High was drilling ahead at a depth of 590m within the Latrobe Formation.

It also told the ASX that it had decided to re-open Wombat-2 “while we have personnel in the area”.

Lakes has a 92.5% stake in the Wombat wells, while Roma Petroleum holds a 5% overriding royalty. Wombat-1 had hydrocarbon shows while being drilled during December 2003 north-east of the Gippsland township of Seaspray.
