The contract will involve foundation works for the gas and steam turbines, heat recovery steam generator, transformer, cooling tower basin and pump station erection, turbine hall erection, electrical and control building works, landscaping, roadworks as well as lighting works.

In a first for the company in Africa, McConnell Dowell received a letter of intent for the construction of the 865km, $US250 million Mozambique-South Africa gas pipeline by Sasol Ltd. This will increase the company's work in hand to over $600 million.
