The latest incarnation of the conference has expanded its focus to include gas and electricity transmission and distribution, multi-utilities and complementary technologies such as telecommunications, renewables and co-generation.
The content and information exchange has broadened to reflect the significant changes in these areas since the first conference was held.
Subsequently the program of full and half-day tours accommodates a variety of these sites, with some South Australian vineyards thrown in for good measure.
The field trip program includes tours of the Passenger Transport Board CNG/LPG refuelling station; a visit to the Stockwell modular substation and a tour of the substation at Orlando with a tour of the bottling plant; ETSA Utilities Network Control Centre, which controls the distribution system for South Australia's 755,000 customers; and the new AGL-owned and operated co-generation plant at Coopers Brewery including a brewery tour.
The Pelican Point combined cycle power generation plant and Australia's largest wind farm, Starfish Hill, to be commissioned in August 2003, are also on the agenda.
