Gas has flowed for the first time through the $200 million Bream pipeline, which connects the existing Bream A offshore production platform in the Gippsland Basin with the gas processing facilities at Longford in Victoria.
The 14-inch (36 cm) diameter pipeline runs 46km from Bream A and crosses the Gippsland coast near Paradise Beach, continuing a further 5km underground to an existing line north of Longford.
It has the capacity to carry more 200 million standard cubic feet of gas a day to service expanding markets in NSW and the new market of Tasmania for at least another 30 years.
