It has decided to set up a 345km long international gas pipeline crossing a land corridor in Bangladesh to transport gas from Agartala to Kolkata.

The pipeline is considered the only option for selling the gas, as there are no buyers in Tripura.

The Agartala dome has about 1.66 trillion cubic feet of 'in place' gas reserve with recoverable gas at 1 trillion cubic feet.
