Ever optimistic to the end, he tried his hardest to beat the cancer and was confident that he could do it. When many would have put their feet up, Andy continued to work on. The last well he monitored was the recent Morangie 1 well - drilled only late last month - on behalf of one of the participants.
In his true fashion he had a very thorough report which he had out quickly to the Joint Venture. As always, he had all of the results correct.
Andy was very instrumental in recognising oil in the Cliff Head 1 well and was very strong in his recommendations to the Joint Venture, as a consultant to one of the non-operators. In this regard his work was regarded as vital.
Having left Lasmo about 10 years ago, Andy set up shop as a consultant petrophysicist, based out of Brisbane but travelling when required for his many clients. During this time he traded under the Modern Log Analysis Company Pty Ltd.
He had cut his teeth in the oil industry with Geoservices and been based in a number of Asian countries, including India. Andy was well respected by his large client base, many of which had been with him for a long period.
In his private life he had a passion for steam engines and trains in genera,l to the extent he would take the train in preference to other modes of transport. He had a number of model trains. Unfortunately he never had the time to set up a track system of his own but did recently participate in a major exhibition.
Andy will be sadly missed by those who knew him. He leaves a wife, Sri, and two daughters, Samantha and Jennifer.
His funeral will be held on Friday 22 November at 1pm at Mt. Gravatt Crematorium, 582 Mains Road, McGregor, Brisbane.
