Mr Wasow joins Santos after an impressive 20-year career with BHP/Billiton in Australia and overseas including postings in the United States. He will be responsible for finance, accounting, taxation, treasury and corporate planning. Dr Bethune has assumed responsibility for corporate development and media, as well as continuing his role as head of Investor Relations

Both will report directly to Santos managing director, Mr John Ellice-Flint.

Ian Middlemas has been appointed as a director of Anzoil NL, effective from 26 September. Mr Middlemas is a chartered accountant and has been in commerce for over 20 years. He originally worked for Arthur Andersen before joining the Normandy Group where he was a senior group executive for approximately 10 years.

Chairman Bob Bryan announced major changes to the management of Queensland Gas company reflecting the rapid evolution of the company from explorer to potential gas producer. Richard Cottee has been appointed managing director to succeed Mr Rob Crook who will continue his work as a consultant to QGC.
