Previously this work couldn't be done in the town of 6000 whose companies service Origin Energy's Spring Gully CSG development, part of the Roma to Brisbane gas pipeline, and the Santos Gladstone LNG CSG fields. 

 

The 31-strong Flemings services multiple energy companies and contractors including Origin, Santos and Beach Energy and has worked with Schlumberger and Atlas Drilling. 

 

"Installation of this specialist equipment will allow Flemings to improve operational efficiency and to invest in certified and highly trained people," Queensland Development Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said.

 

Flemings will match the state's investment dollar-for-dollar to fund its improvements as specified under the terms of the $20 million Made in Queensland grants program. 

 

The grants offer funds of $50,000 to $2.5 million to manufacturers willing to adopt innovative processes and technology that will drive skilled jobs. 

 

The Queensland government is planning to upskill the 169,000-strong manufacturing workforce over a ten-year period to advanced manufacturing high-paid, knowledge-based jobs. 

 

"Upskilling our workforce is an important part of this program and with the introduction of this technology employees at Flemings will be achieving just that," Lynham said.
