TGC-Nopec has been awarded WA-84-AA and WA-38-SPA until Christmas Eve.

The two permits cover some 300,000 square kilometres and cover fields including Angel, Fletcher/Finucane South, Cossack, Wanaea, Chandon, Goodwyn, Jansz/Io, Mutineer, North Rankin, Yellowglen and the remote Thebe gas find.

The permits allow for the Northwest Shelf Renaissance 2D seismic survey, which will consist of some 8000km of long offset, broadband 2D seismic data as well as magnetic and gravity data.

The survey is designed to provide enhanced imaging through to the deeper stratigraphic section of the Dampier, Beagle and Bedout sub-basins and the Exmouth Plateau.

"This new long offset 2D survey will tie recent and deep wells with TGS's existing 3D coverage in the Exmouth Plateau and Carnarvon Basin," TGS CEO Kristian Johansen said.

The modern 2D survey will also traverse the proposed 2016 Australian offshore petroleum exploration acreage release areas which are expected to be released in July.

Fast track data will be available November 2016 with the final PSDM data available May 2017.

The TGS survey is being undertaken in co-operation with BGP, which will provide the seismic vessel BGP Explorer.

Elsewhere, Searcher Seismic has completed shooting the Bilby 2D survey, which includes coverage to proposed 2016 open acreage and ties both the Phoenix South-1 and Roc-1 discovery wells.

"We are very excited by the results of the Bilby survey - the data quality is excellent and has revealed not only leads associated with the Lower Triassic petroleum systems being pursued in the Roc/Phoenix South area, but new play types that were not recognised previously," global sales manager Rachel Masters said.

The final phase of the Bilby 2D Seismic Survey brings the completed project to 14,336km.

Elsewhere, Phase 2 of the Silver-Eye 3D seismic survey, offshore Norway has been completed, expanding the existing Phase 1 3D coverage of the Hammerfest Basin to further highlight the potential of the highly prospective area in the Barents Sea.

The Silver-Eye 3D seismic survey provides 4548sq.km of excellent quality new broadband 3D data covering the Snohvit field, the Goliat field and the Tornerose discovery.

In addition, the Silver-Eye 3D covers both north and south flanks of the Hammerfest Basin.

Both Searcher datasets are being processed by Perth's DownUnder Geosolutions, with the initial phase data now available for both projects.

Fast track data for Phase 2 of the Silver-Eye 3D seismic survey will be available as soon as possible and the final data volume available before the end of the year,

Final data for the Bilby 2D Phase 3 will be available in January 2017.

BGP also partnered with Searcher for both surveys.
