Central about to start outback drilling

The drilling program will target the Blamore and Simpson oil prospects, three coal seam methane prospects, the Ooraminna gas prospect, and the Mount Kitty gas/condensate/helium prospect.

Central has now sealed a contract agreement with Hunt Oil for use of the drilling contractor's Rig 2.

Hunt will kick off the drilling program with the Blamore-1 well in Pedirka Basin permit EP 92, targeting up to 70 million barrels of in-place oil reserves.

Elsewhere in the Pedirka, Central will drill Simpson-1 in EP 97, targeting 190 million barrels of oil, and three coal seam methane wells (CBM-1, 2 and 3) in EPs 93 and 107.

In the Amadeus Basin, Central will drill two gas wells - Mount Kitty in EP 125 and Ooraminna in EP 82 - that target a total of up to 4.9 trillion cubic feet of gas in place. Mt Kitty could also hold up to 185 billion cubic feet of helium.

The rig is expected to be mobilised from the Cooper Basin in the coming weeks. Drill pads have been levelled and casing supplies have already arrived in Alice Springs.

Central farmed-out acreage to PXA and He Nuclear in February, and is farming-in to three prospect blocks in Rawson Resources' Pedirka Basin EP 97.
