Due for completion this quarter, the survey will extend over 1400 square kilometres of WA-398-P, with a further 500sq.km to be shot outside the permit.

Karoon said the 3D seismic data would better define the prospectivity of leads identified within the WA-398-P block during pre-gazettal award investigation.

The company acquired its 40% interest in WA-398-P last May, adding to its interests in the nearby WA-314-P and WA-315-P blocks.

ConocoPhillips is operator and holds the remaining 60% stake inWA-398-P.

Interests in WA-314-P and WA-315-P are Conoco also as operator with 51%, while Karoon has 49%.
