Intermediate logs run across the Alene and Toro sandstones confirmed both intervals to be water-bearing.

The logs also indicate the deeper secondary targets are water-bearing.

The rig will now move to the Gobe area in preparation for drilling the Cobra-1 well.

Oil Search has 90% interest in Korobosea-1 while the remaining 10% is held by Gedd PNG.

The company added it is testing the West Ghobata-1 exploration well in Yemen after logs identified anomalies in the well and encountering minor oil shows during drilling.

Participants in Block 49 are operator CCC (17.1%), Oil Search (42.3%), Virgin Resources (25.6%) and The Yemen Company (15%).

Oil Search has also started logging operations at its West Zeit-X1 well in Egypt, which has been drilled to a total depth of 2135m.

The West Zeit prospect is in the Wadi Dara exploration concession, and targets the Cretaceous Nubia sandstones. The well is the first to be drilled in the West Dara concession.

Oil Search has a 100% interest in Wadi Dara in Block A.
