Last Thursday, 76mm of rain fell on the location and this has delayed site works until the water soaks away. The rig is stacked in Roma and will be mobilised early this week with an expected start to drilling three to four days later, according to Icon.
Stitch-1 is on the Moonie Fault, about 40km south of the Moonie oil field with the same reservoir objective.
Stitch-1 is planned to be drilled to a depth of 2000m to intersect the Precipice Sandstone and the Walloon Coal Measures, the company said.
If the Precipice Sandstone does not contain hydrocarbons then the well could be cased and completed as a CSM well in preparation for de-watering.
Meanwhile, Icon yesterday spudded Natasha-1 in the same permit. This well will be drilled to 750m and completed as a Coal Seam Gas well.
A pump is to be installed soon after for de-watering and gas flow testing.
Icon Energy holds a 100% interest in ATP 626P. The wells are midway between the townships of Goondiwindi and Moonie just off the Newell Highway.
