The company said in its annual report that these will include the drilling in the third quarter of 2007 of at least three additional wells in the Usano region of Kutubu when the first of its two new rigs arrives.
It will also continue the planning for additional wells in other parts of Kutubu with drilling expected to start late this year.
Oil Search expects these wells and well workover activity to arrest the field’s natural production decline and potentially increase reserves.
It will also drill the Juha-4 exploration well in PNG’s highlands that will target an untested block that may be in communication with the existing wells.
Other work lined up for 2007 include carrying out between two and five well interventions to establish and maintain production at its Gobe Main field, optimising well and facilities performance at the Greater Moran and SE Mananda fields and starting production from NW Moran-1 once Production Development Licence 6 is awarded.
The company is also interpreting over 2000km of 2D seismic data shot off the Gulf of Papua as part of a larger survey by Fugro Multi Client Services. This data will be used to assess possible drilling targets in PPL 234 for 2008-09.
