EXPLORATION

Teatime in Texas for Amadeus

AMADEUS Energy says its drilling success rate has reached 84% at Lavaca County, Texas, after the Wolf-Cowling-1 exploration well encountered 30 feet (9.1m) of gas pay.

The company said log data indicates the gas pay section, at a depth of 6920-6950ft (2109-2118m) in the Middle Wilcox Formation, has 24% porosity and no evidence of water. As a result, the well is now being cased for production testing.

Drilled to a total depth of 7200ft, Wolf-Cowling-1 is the fourth successful well to be drilled at Lavaca County in the 2006-07 financial year, according to Amadeus.

To date on this project, 16 wells have been successful in discovering hydrocarbons out of 19 drilled, representing an overall success rate of 84%.

Amadeus holds a 44.5% stake in the project, while Texas-based Trio Consulting and Management is operator.
