The company said ATP852P, covering an area of about 1050 square kilometres of “highly prospective” acreage, has been acquired mainly as a CSM exploration permit.
Pure said the permit has excellent potential for CSM exploration, appraisal and development.
“The permit further expands Pure’s already extensive CSM acreage, and moves it into the Walloon CSM Play Fairway, which is proven to be productive and prolific in nearby fields and close to existing infrastructure and markets,” the company said.
Pure will hold 100% interest in both the CSM and conventional rights of the permit.
The junior said it had also been granted permit ATP831P in Northern Bowen Basin, with the southern border lying about 45km north of the Mungi CSM field.
Pure said the coal-bearing units are the Rangal/Baralaba coal measures, where the coals are high-rank seams and are likely to contain high gas contents at depth.
The company said it would mature three leads – Duaringa, Don and Baralaba – identified in the permit by Origin Energy in 2003.
Pure said the “synergy” between application tenement ATP806P (A) and ATP831P, now granted, together with permit ATP758P, set up a “substantial and promising” area for the exploration of CSM.
“In conjunction with ATP758P, the overall strategy will be to discover gas in the Permian coal seams and identify areas where pilot projects and ultimately, field developments may be constructed,” the company said.
“In the future, this could extend to exploration/development in ATP806P (A), which is expected to be granted later in this quarter.”
