The company yesterday said Nabrajah-11 was at a depth of 2475m and that electric logs over the objective Kohlan-Naifa Formation and the basement section were being run. Drilling progress over the week had been 413m.
During the week, elevated mud log gas readings (C1–C5) were recorded during drilling of the Kohlan-Naifa dolomitic limestone and basement sections. The gross interval over which these gas shows were recorded was about 272m. Oil staining was also recorded over the interval 2424-2440m in the lower part of the Kohlan-Naifa section.
Oil Search said the forward program was to complete the electric logging and fluid sampling program. Subject to the results of the electric logging, the well would either be deepened further into the basement or a testing program initiated.
Nabrajah-11 is located 1km to the west of the Nabrajah-5 production well, with the objective of further appraising the Kholan and basement potential in the Nabrajah-5 fault terrace.
Last month, Oil Search and its partners suspended the nearby Nabrajah-10 well following disappointing initial results, but said further testing might be possible in the future.
Participants in the Nabrajah-11 well are operator DNO ASA (56.67%), Oil Search (Yemen) (28.33%) and The Yemen Company (15%), which is being carried through this phase of the program.
