Woodside to explore Great Australian Bight

WOODSIDE will undertake seismic in the Great Australian Bight off South Australia early next year. The company has said it will conduct a survey in late January, 330 kilometres south of the head of the bight.

If the results were promising, drilling for oil could begin soon after, Woodside told ABC Radio.

The region is home to scores of southern right whales during their breeding season in the colder months and the company said it had several measures in place to make sure the whales were not affected.
