With a 10% interest, the Guadalupe Prospect has cost Strike a total of A$150,000.
Drilled to 991 metres, Berndt-1 had a planned total depth of 1067 metres and was targeting the Miocene Sands.
This disappointment follows the program’s previous two dusters - Sorrel-1 and Lyman Gas Unit-2.
“The three-well shallow gas drilling program has been disappointing,” said Strike Oil managing director Simon Ashton.
“However, integration of the results with existing data will be valuable in high-grading the remaining shallow gas prospects.”
Both Sorrel-1 and Lyman Gas Unit-2 intersected a thin gas zone on water at the main target horizon. This thin zone did not justify completing the well for production, Strike said in reports earlier this month.
