Hadda-1 a duster

WHILE the Hadda-1 wildcat well in the offshore Perth Basin has been plugged and abandoned as a dry hole with oil shows in tight sands, it could be evidence of a new oil exploration fairway in the offshore Perth Basin, according to joint venture partner Voyager Energy.

"We have found oil in a location many tens of kilometres from the nearest well control and over 150km from the commercial oil fields to the south," Voyager managing director John Begg said.

The Ensco 56 jack-up drilling rig was released from the Hadda-1 location. The well was drilled as a vertical well in 45 metres of water, about 150km north-west of Geraldton, Western Australia and roughly 200km north-west of the Cliff Head Oil Field.

Interests in WA-325-P are Roc Oil (WA) Pty Ltd 37.5% (Operator), Apache Northwest Pty Ltd 37.5%, Voyager (PB) Limited 12.5%, Bounty Oil & Gas NL 7.5% and Wandoo Petroleum Pty Ltd 5%.
