The test was conducted over the interval 2425 – 2459m through a quarter-inch choke with 40 psi surface pressure, said Arc Energy executive director Eric Streitberg.
“The result is in line with our expectations for the tested zone and has demonstrated for the first time the ability of the Upper Irwin River section to free flow gas from the Elegans gas accumulation,” Streitberg said.
“The results give encouragement that the systematic evaluation process being undertaken will give us the data we need to evaluate the commercialisation potential of the Elegans resource.”
The well will now be deepened to evaluate other potentially gas-bearing zones in the Irwin River Coal Measures and High Cliff Sandstone, the partners said.
