Malaysian firm bags Bass Basin block

The permit is in the Bass Basin, offshore Tasmania’s northern coast and lies between Geographe-1 and the Tasmanian coast. It is understood Benaris bid 2D seismic in the first three years with one contingent well.

It has one other 100% owned permit (VIC/P38 V) with 12.7% stakes in five other permit areas.

Two other permits offered at the same time – T/37P and T/39P - have been jointly picked up by Exoil (associated with Geoff Albers) and Cue Energy subsidiary Galveston Mining, which also has Albers on its board of directors.
