Singapore firm ups Myanmar exploration

A report in The Myanmar Times newspaper has indicated the Singapore-registered MPRL Exploration and Production Private Ltd is to drill an additional five E&P wells in central Myanmar.

There are currently 650 wells in the Mann field, with 243 in production.

The report, citing MPRL, stated, “Investing US$9 million MPRL will carry out the undertaking at the end of this year at the onshore Mann Oil Field. The new development and exploratory wells in central Myanmar’s Magway division [are] to enhance crude oil exploration and extraction in the country.”

“MPRL has injected US$75 million in Myanmar since it began exploration at the Mann field in 1997 under a performance compensation contract with the state-run Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise,” added the report.
