The license was issued in September by the Petronas Group Licensing Board and allows the firm to provide Field Development Planning, Concept Screening and Selection and Operation Support and Optimisation, which is usually done in-house. Petronas’s foray into deepwater and marginal fields E&P and international “hydrocarbon provinces”, however, meant IGL’s expertise was needed.

In a statement IGL Oil & Gas Consultants Sdn Bhd GM Razmahwata Razalli said, “This is a significant milestone in IGL’s development in Malaysia and we are honoured to have secured this level of recognition, which is based on the quality of our service delivery.”

“Those traits had established the foundation for exemplary IGL client relationships at each of its four locations around the globe, ensuring development of Malaysia’s hydrocarbon resources would benefit from the IGL expertise nurtured throughout its office network,” he added.

The firm established its KL office in 2001 and has developed a reputation for “high quality, independent process engineering consulting service delivery” in the region’s oil and gas industry. The KL and Perth offices have also provided services to firms operating in Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Japan and China.

“Whilst our success in the region reflects the success of our approach, our focus is to now build on our excellent relationships closer to home in Malaysia.. We are committed to the development of local talent in our expertise niche and the transfer of technology into Malaysia from our global network, so this Petronas License provides us the means to now deliver the full benefits of our service and product suite,” said Razmahwata.
