Moroccan licence wrangle delays seismic shoot for juniors

Cooper Energy and Pancontinental Oil & Gas will have to delay their seismic shoot off the coast of Morocco until some time next year following a delay in reaching government approvals for the exploration block.

The companies, along with Pancon’s stablemate, operator Afrex Limited, have a JV deal to explore the Moroccan Reconnaissance Est License in the Moroccan sector of the Mediterranean Sea.

Pancon said it had been told by Afrex there had been a delay in the ratification of the license by the Moroccan Government, with ratification now contemplated by December this year.

It said seismic would be delayed until the licence was ratified and would give further updates when activity recommenced.
