In a statement Mohammad said, “[Petrobras’s] work will focus on the Caspian Sea, and [can] be a base for Petrobras to expand exploration in the region, including in Afghanistan where natural gas was recently discovered.”
“Iran is also seeking a commercial agreement with auto parts company Marcopolo and mining company CVRD. Overall, commercial agreements could reach US$1 billion,” he added.
Reports in Brazil’s Jornal do Commercio said Petrobras will initially invest around US$30 million on two shallow-water oil-prospecting wells.
