Voyager was originally awarded a 100% interest in exploration area W03-14 in shallow waters on trend from the Cliff Head oil field in the offshore Perth Basin. By prior agreement, Roc Oil has exercised an option to take up a 50% equity in the permit and will assume operatorship.
W03-14 covers a portion of the geological trend which to the south includes the Cliff Head (offshore) and Hovea, Jingemia, Eremia (onshore) oil fields and is contiguous with three licences in which Voyager and Roc already hold interests, all of which are operated by Roc.
Voyager intends to fund the first year of activities in the block out of existing cash reserves.
"We are very pleased to pick up another licence on this highly prospective trend and to continue the strong relationship that we have built with Roc Oil. Importantly for Voyager, we will have a large equity position, which will allow us to be highly leveraged to any future drilling activity," said Voyager's managing director, John Begg.
Voyager now has interests in 8 licences covering over 34,000 sq.km in the Perth Basin.
