Produced by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, the coloured, poster-sized map highlights WA's extensive array of resources projects and is available free of charge. The map shows a broad range of mineral and petroleum projects that are either proposed, currently operating or under development in the State.
Director General Jim Limerick said the map, which was first produced in the early 1990s, has consistently been one of the Department's most popular products.
"One of the great things about the Major Resource Projects map is that it puts the industry in perspective for the lay person and industry expert alike. It shows clearly the broad range of resources projects around the State and their location in a simple, easy-to-read, colour-coded format," Dr Limerick said.
"Copies of the map are distributed widely, from local schools and industry operators to international investors and Australian diplomatic posts overseas. There are very few high quality maps of this kind available in Australasia, and we are very proud of it."
Information contained in the Major Resource Projects map is used in a variety of ways, but mainly as a reference tool for research or planning.
