Wireline logging, at a total depth of 2,605m has essentially confirmed the pre-drill expectation for this well in terms of the thickness, quality and hydrocarbon content of the reservoir.
As a result, the Joint Venture plans to conduct a one-to-two week production test before the well will be suspended pending commissioning of the production facilities of the field in late 2005.
The partners said the reservoir sands appear to be of generally good to excellent quality with a net to gross ratio for the column in excess of 50%.
The well is being drilled by the drillship "Jack Ryan" in around 820m water depth offshore Mauritania in PSC Area B, 90km from the capital city of Nouakchott and is the first well in a program of up to four wells.
Chinguetti 4-5 was drilled on the southwestern part of the field about 900m northwest from the Chinguetti-1 discovery well and was not expected to significantly change the oil-in-place reserve estimates for the field.
The figures stated supercede an earlier release from Roc Oil which announced the interception of a 50m gross oil column.
The Joint Venture is comprised of Woodside Mauritania (operator) 35%, AGIP Mauritania 35%, Hardman Resources 21.6%, Fusion Mauritania B 6%, Roc Oil 2.4%.
