48m column confirms Egret field

Operator Woodside said they logged the 12(1/4) inch hole from 2,727 metres to 3,348 metres where preliminary results indicated a 48 metre gross hydrocarbon column, which they said would be further evaluated with a wireline pressure testing and sampling program.

Drilling has not been easy due to adverse hole conditions. After the wireline logging, drilling will continue to test the deeper exploration objective of the well.

This second play is interesting because only three of the partners – Woodside, BHP Billiton and MIMI - have chosen to participate in the deeper objectives of the well, sharing the sole risk.

The well is in 119 metre water depth, 120 km north of Dampier.

Interests in permit WA-10-R are Woodside (16.67% - operator), BHP Billiton (16.67%), BP Developments (16.67%), ChevronTexaco (16.67%), Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) (16.67%) and Shell Development (16.67%).
