Seismic shoot targets Pohokura's north

Indo-Pacific Energy has taken advantage of the Polar Duke's presence in Taranaki waters to shoot ...

Company chief executive Dave Bennett said the Polar Duke had just finished shooting the seismic over Amanda prospect within licence PEP 38480, in which Indo-Pacific held a 75% interest. Weather conditions for the survey had been excellent; and high quality data was acquired, which would be processed to define evidence for gas within the Kapuni reservoir sands in Amanda, as had been done at the adjacent Pohokura prospect.

The Polar Duke had earlier completed shooting about 1200km of 2D seismic over licences PEP 38481 and 482 for the Shell, Todd Energy, OMV partners.

Bennett also said the Kaimata 3D seismic survey being acquired over about 77 sqkm of onshore Taranaki was now 50% completed.

Indo-Pacific was confident that high-quality data being obtained would enable the identification of any potential drilling targets within the area, which covers parts of PEP 38741, 38748 and 38761. Exploratatory drillling was likely towards the end of 2003-early 2004.
