On Friday the well flowed gas to surface in 85 minutes with a maximum gas rate of 0.03 million cubic feet per day and recovered 1.2 barrels of muddy oil over a flow period of 2 hrs.
Targeting a recoverable one million barrels of oil, the well has had several good shows confirming the highly prospective nature of the Cooper Basin's western flank.
Historically, there has been very little exploration in the region with Beach Petroleum's Sellicks-1 well only the fifth hole drilled in the 1000sq.km area.
A previous well by the JV partners, Moana-1, was plugged and abandoned after the results of the DST indicated the Patchawarra Formation was water bearing.
